Run by volunteers in support of charity and community.
The Chelsea Book Festival is a brand new cultural festival in the heart of Chelsea bringing together authors with their readers in an intimate setting over a period of 4 days.
We are delighted that John Simpson, Mark Oakley, Peter York, Jonathan Boff and Jennie Cashman will be speaking and signing their books.
Our inaugural festival will take place from 24th to 27th September 2025 and will be held in Petyt Hall, SW3 5LT.
The festival is a non-profit making community event raising money for 3 charities, Glass Door, NSPCC and Chelsea Old Church which is hosting the Festival.
We are very grateful to Waterstones for organising the book sales and sponsoring our festival.
Chelsea is a vibrant neighbourhood with a rich literary heritage and so the perfect setting for a Book festival. Some of the famous authors who have lived here include Agatha Christie, JM Barrie, Somerset Maugham TS Eliot, George Elliot, Henry James, Jane Austen, Oscar Wilde, Ian Fleming, Bram Stoker, Percy Bysshe and Mary Shelley and Dylan Thomas.
All of our events will take place in Petyt Hall on Cheyne Walk, SW3 5LT (please see the Contact page for further details).

We are proud to be supporting Glassdoor Homeless Charity
Glassdoor is the UK's largest open-access network of emergency winter shelters and support services for people experiencing homelessness. Operating in partnership with churches and communities, Glassdoor provides a safe place to sleep for those with nowhere else to turn, along with practical support such as hot meals, casework advice, housing assistance, and employment guidance. With dignity and compassion at the heart of their approach, Glassdoor empowers individuals to leave homelessness behind for good.
We are proud to be supporting NSPCC
The NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) is the UK’s leading children’s charity, dedicated to preventing abuse and helping those affected recover. Founded in 1884, the NSPCC works tirelessly to protect children, offering support services, running educational programmes, and campaigning for stronger child protection laws. Their confidential helplines and Childline service provide vital lifelines for children and adults concerned about a child's welfare.
We are proud to be supporting Chelsea Old Church
The Church has been serving God on the Chelsea Embankment for over 700 years. Our worship is conducted according to the Book of Common Prayer, with readings from the King James Version of the Bible, and music enhanced by our professional choir.
In our worship, attention to God’s word, and communal life together we hope to be drawn deeper into the heart and mind of Jesus Christ.
We are delighted to announce that Waterstones is an official sponsor of the 2025 Festival. As one of the UK’s leading booksellers, Waterstones brings not only its deep literary expertise but also its commitment to promoting reading and cultural enrichment.
